Summer Styled by Spa_ce Vintage
Hot in the City - Benefits of a Personal Shopper and StylistBusy city gal Nina Simone [long time client of mine] loves a one-of-a-kind dress, but just doesn’t have the time to sift through racks of clothes to find ‘the one’. Luckily she has a stylist.I knew from experience Nina would love Spa_ce Vintage Clothing Gallery just near the David Mirvish book store. Spa_ce Boutique is wonderfully chic; featuring three rails of vintage dresses and the occasional contemporary frock and not one over $100! Most of the summer dresses we looked at ranged between $20 and $40 at most! I absolutely love the selection! Spa_ce even has an interior waterfall that cascades near a full row of mirrors. How cool is that?!As Nina is fit and has a petite figure, I recommended two strapless dresses - one in white [$20] and one in black [$40]. This summer you cannot be without the white cotton dress of the season! The black dress was recommended as Nina didn’t have a classic black cocktail dress in her closet; the one we found was BCBG with striking net detail. I paired both of these dresses with a wide belt, with a marble patent shine and gold buckle for only $5. The belt accentuates Nina’s tiny waist and is also another big trend this season – cinch in that waist ladies! The styling for these two dresses is easy. Hair-up, as to show off trim shoulders and neck. To contrast with the gold buckle on the belt, I recommend Nina mix up her metal accessories and use gold, silver and burnished copper for a more relaxed and less deliberate approach. For footwear, a pair of gold high heel sling backs with a slight snake skin motif, is sexy and fun! Ditto that for the eye makeup, I went with a smoky purple shadow to make Nina’s eyes and her blond hair pop!Spa_ce Vintage Clothing Gallery, 608A Markham St., 416-916-6219

Then it was the Intrepid Jolie Adele Fairservice who put her multitalents to work styling the heck out of the store and turning it into an Anoinette-and-cupcake paradise, then shooting and directing the models to perfection for Christine Deleon's article on holiday vintage in the Huffington Post.
